Maine Lobster Festival
Rockland /  August 3—7
Billed as “five days of fun and feasting on the fabulous coast of Maine,” the Maine Lobster Festival has become a family-friendly institution!  Originally conceived as a quaint little marine festival to revive mid-coast Maine communities, the Lobster Festival has now evolved into an internationally-recognized celebration of local seafood and culinary delights. Enjoy the yummy food and festivities with everyone from local neighbors to visitors from around the world!

Augusta’s Free Summertime Concert Series
Mill Park / August 3 and 10
This Wednesday-night summertime concert series spotlights great local music plus plenty of delicious local food and drink options. Food trucks will dish up yummy delectables at each concert, and the city of Augusta will add to the mix with their own great hotdogs, sodas, and popcorn. The August 3 show features The Laura Hudson Project playing a memorable mix of tunes from the 80s to today. Then, on August 10, Matt James, half of the local DJ team “Matt & Lizzy in the Morning,” will present his multi-genre DJ style, keeping everyone grooving to their favorite tunes!

Skowhegan State Fair
Skowhegan Fairgrounds /  August 11 – 20
First launched in 1818, the Skowhegan State Fair is America’s oldest consecutively-running agricultural fair. This year’s don’t-miss-’em events include everything from human cannonball daredevils … to demolition derbies … to truck pulls … to a Battle of the Bands … to harness racing … 4-H shows … great exhibits … and more!
 

51th Annual Blueberry Festival
Winslow Congregational Church Grounds /  August 13
One of central Maine’s all-time most popular, beloved, and downright yummy summer events, Winslow’s annual Blueberry Festival now enters its second half-century! Over 750 to-die-for blueberry pies—along with a host of “all things blueberry” baked goods—will be complemented by live music; a big yard sale; crafts vendors; a popcorn vendor; an agricultural exhibit featuring goats; a firetruck and police car; and more. 

The Blistered Fingers Family Bluegrass Festival
Litchfield Fairgrounds  /  August 25-28
A fast-pickin’ institution since 1991, this family-friendly festival delivers some of the greatest bluegrass music you’ll ever hear. Every year, thousands of music lovers from around the world descend on Litchfield to delight in world-class banjos, fiddles, and high-lonesome harmonies. Performers this year include the Dave Atkins Band, Nothin’ Fancy, Back Woods Road, Deeper Shade of Blue, and more. Includes accommodations for RVs, buses, and tents.

Windsor Fair
Windsor Fairgrounds  /  August 28 through September 5
Hailed as “a family tradition since 1888,” the Windsor Fair offers you and your loved ones more than 50 acres of attractions. Daily shows and events include celebrated musicians like Denny Breau, the Wild Horse Band, Downeast Brass, Country Mist, and the Don Campbell band, PLUS the annual favorite, Dave Michaud as Elvis. Other great attractions include harness racing, large animal exhibits, demolition derby, Woodsman Day, truck and tractor pulls, and much more.
