There are many ways to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend in Central Maine. You can start off by paying your respects and honoring those who served, while also setting aside some time to appreciate your loved ones.
Here are our top tips for things to go to:
Go to the Augusta Memorial Day Observance
The annual Memorial Day Observance will be held in the Togus National Cemetery. It starts at 8AM in the East Cemetery and then will proceed to the West Cemetery. If you want to participate, you should meet in the Building 205 Parking Lot no later than 7:45AM.
Attend the Skowhegan Parade
The Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to attend its annual Memorial Day Parade.
It begins at 10AM and is meant as a “support to our veterans and a sign of respect for those who have sacrificed so much in defense of our country and the freedom we enjoy as Americans.”
You can even participate! Find more and to register here.
Be There for the Wilton Wreath Placement
At 1PM there will be a Memorial observation at the Monument in downtown Wilton, as well as a wreath placing. There will also be a procession following from the Monument to the Wilton Lion’s Club down on Main Street.
