Halloween in Central Maine: Things to Do, See, and Eat

That spooky feeling in the air can only mean one thing: Halloween is nearly here! There are so many fun ways to celebrate Halloween in Central Maine. Here's just a few to get you started:

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Central Maine is famous for its plethora of patches. Whether you're looking for the Great Pumpkin itself or a few smaller ones for porch decorations, you don't have to drive too far to find exactly what you're looking for. A few of our favorite patches are at the County Fair Farm in Jefferson or Ben and Molly's Spooky Pumpkin Patch in South China.

Explore a Corn Maze

Corn rustling in the wind, the thrill of finding your way out, the spookiness of being "trapped" are a just a few of the best parts of corn maze puzzles. Pumpkin Valley Farms has one of the best mazes around, promising six acres of fun!

Brave a Haunted House or Walk

Halloween in Central Maine is legendary because of its haunted houses and historical walks! One of our favorites is in Bangor. For a small fee, you'll be taken on a 90-minute spooky stroll through the Queen City, exploring unsolved mysteries and murders. You just might learn a little history, too. Find more info here.

Enjoy a Glass of Warm Apple Cider and a Donut or Two (or Three)

Halloween in Central Maine simply wouldn't exist without the crisp flavors and delight of apple cider and apple cider donuts. And, residents here are in luck because the best pairing in the state is close by at Lakeside Orchards. The bakers there are onsite every day bright and early at 6AM to bake donuts from scratch. You definitely won't want to miss them.
